Live outage counts by county and utility, a decade of outage history and utility reliability, with charts you can embed. All of it is free to republish with credit.

What you can use

Embed a live chart

Charts with a Share & embed button have an Embed tab, and the embed builder makes a live map of a state or the counties you choose. The code is an iframe that keeps updating on your page, with a source line under it linking the page the data comes from. Keep the line, or credit MassOutage another way.

• Home page map: The live national map, coloured by share of customers out.
• State pages: The state's live map, county by county, or only the counties you choose, from the embed builder.
• County pages: The county's live status, its outage history by year, and the causes utilities report.
• State and county trend charts: Customers out over the last hours and days.
• Annual reports: The national and each state's year, ranked.

Before you publish

• MassOutage is independent and unofficial. For restoration times and official statements, quote the utility or the state or county emergency management office.
• Live counts lag the utility’s own map by a few minutes, so give the as-of time with any live figure.
• Some utilities have no public feed, so a county can have outages we can’t see. Live coverage lists them by state.
• History is from DOE/ORNL EAGLE-I, which tracks most but not all customers; the methodology explains how each figure is calculated.
